The Colorado Rapids delivered a complete performance at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, earning a 3-1 victory over Atlanta United behind a brace from Rafael Navarro and a strong attacking display that helped secure three important points in the 2025 MLS season.
The Rapids came out aggressively and were rewarded early. In the 18th minute, Darren Yapi opened the scoring after connecting with Rafael Navarro, who provided the assist with a headed pass to put Colorado in front. Yapi’s composed finish gave the home side momentum and energized the crowd.
Atlanta United responded quickly, however, leveling the match just two minutes later. Aleksey Miranchuk found space outside the box and fired a left-footed strike past the Colorado defense to bring the game back even at 1-1.
After a back-and-forth first half, the Rapids regained control in the second period. Navarro became the difference-maker, converting a penalty in the 64th minute before adding another goal in the 71st minute to complete his brace and give Colorado a commanding 3-1 lead.

Navarro finished the night with two goals, one assist, four shots, and two shots on target, playing a central role in nearly every dangerous attacking moment for Colorado. His three goal contributions made him the standout performer of the match.
Yapi also played an important role in the victory, recording a goal and an assist while helping lead Colorado’s attack early in the match. Calvin Harris added an assist on Navarro’s second goal, providing another key attacking contribution.
Despite controlling more possession, Atlanta struggled to create enough clear chances. The Five Stripes held 56% of the ball and registered 11 total shots, but managed only two shots on target against Colorado’s defense. Miranchuk’s goal was the only breakthrough Atlanta could find.
Colorado’s defensive organization also played a major role in the result. The Rapids limited Atlanta’s attacking threats, including stars such as Miguel Almirón and Emmanuel Latte Lath, and protected their two-goal advantage through the final whistle.
The win represented a strong all-around showing from Colorado, combining efficient finishing, disciplined defending, and a standout individual performance from Navarro. For Atlanta, the defeat continued a difficult stretch as they struggled to turn possession into results.
With Navarro leading the attack and the team executing in key moments, the Rapids showed exactly what makes them a difficult opponent when playing at home.
